#1 On iTunes
I’m going to start reviewing songs labeled as most popular on iTunes. The song that has been #1 for several weeks now is “Boom Boom Pow” by The Black Eyed Peas. The music to this song is pretty good for hip hop. The lyrics? crap. Most people believe the entire song to be interpreted as a World War III episode with Korea (boom boom pow, sound effects for bombs). My interpretation? this song has no meaning, simply from the random craziness of the verse lyrics. The verses range from talking about the amazingness of the beat of the song itself (isn’t there some rule in songwriting that tells you not to write about how great your song is in the song?), to Fergie going off about haters, to some futuristic weirdness about 3008, to something utterly and completely random about big feet stepping on leprechauns (what the heck!). I give this song 1 out of 5 stars.
