#1 On iTunes

The current #1 on iTunes is Man In the Mirror by Michael Jackson. With Jackson’s recent death, this is definitely not surprising. Personally, I have never cared for Michael Jackson as a musician. I must say though that this is one of the best songs of his I’ve heard. Basically throughout the song, Jackson sees homeless people on the streets and people in pain, and expresses a desire to help them. But then, he looks at himself and realizes that he’s going to need to change before he helps others to change their circumstances. He must start with “the man in the mirror.”

It’s easy to see why this song, as opposed to “Thriller” or “Beat It” is #1. People want to expose the “moral” side of Jackson after his death. My question is though, is this who Jackson was? Was he really the moral pop hero that the media is cracking him up to have been?
